Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, July 31, 2017 at New Bethel FCM Church for James Ray Hicks, 55, of Hokes Bluff who entered the presence of God on July 29, 2017. Pastor Bruce Gilliland will officiate. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of the services.
James was a music enthusiast, which led him to serve as assistant choir director for New Bethel FCM Church for five years. He worked in automotive retail and service for over 25 years. He was a strong supporter of college and high school football, rarely missing a Hokes Bluff home game in the past 20 years.
His other varied interests included outdoorsmanship, agriculture, military history and popular cinema.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Linda Hicks, father and mother-in-law; Adrian and Leanna Austin, grandparents; Aubry and Ruby Kuykendall, Lula Ruth Kelsoe, Odis Kelsoe, and Milburn William Hicks.
He is survived by his wife; Terri Crawford Hicks, son; Lance (Kalee) Hicks, daughter; Ashley Hicks (Robby Potts) grandson; Bradley Reaves, stepson; Zac Alsobrooks, parents; Cecil and Francis Hicks, brothers and sisters; Connie Chambers, Phyllis (Tommy) Cash, Jeffery Hicks, and David (Connie) Hicks, in-laws; David and Lynda Crawford, Tiffany (Chris) Moore, Joe, Johnny and Tommy Austin and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Travis McGowan, Tommy Hutt, Jerry Ponder, Tommy Garrard, Mark Reeves, and Scott Reeves.
Special thanks to Hope Hospice and their entire staff for their great care and support.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to time of service Monday at the Church.
