Ernest Eugene Pike
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Thursday May 10, 2018 at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for Ernest Eugene Pike, age 73, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on May 7, 2018. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge.
He was born in the house he would later grow up in, on January 13, 1945. Mr. Pike was a 1963 graduate of Hokes Bluff High School. He was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army from August 9, 1963 until April 9, 1971. He was an avid gun collector, loved gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Eugene Willie and Estelle Hulsey Pike, sister: Nelma Faye Pike.
He is survived by his children: Bart (Missy) Collins, Panette (Gary) Phillips, Misty (David) Nance, and Lacy (Jason) Pruitt; grandchildren: Lauren (Devin) Hayes, Storm Collins, Maitland (Jacob) Blackwell, Slade Phillips, Zane Phillips, Kassidy Nance, Whitney Nance, and Ashton Pruitt; great-grandchildren: Marilyn, Nataleigh, and Zane Hayes, Hadley Collins, Carter Ingraham, Blayde Staton, Elias and Boone Blackwell, sisters: Alma Alford, Minnie Pearson, Helen Payne, Nelda (Bobby) Basenberg, and Donna (Johnny) Preston and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ball Play #1 Volunteer Fire Department.
Special thanks to Amedysis Hospice, especially nurses: Hanna, Bridget, Brooke, and Brandi, Ball Play #1 Volunteer Fire Department, and all the love and support from chosen son, Jason Pruitt, beloved friend and mother of his two youngest children, Annette Pike, life-long friend Pat McMahan, the late Alan McMahan, and Eric Murray.
Family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 2 to 3 pm.
