Alfred “Doodle” St. John
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Monday July 2, 2018 at Crestwood Cemetery for Alfred “Doodle” St. John, age, 82, of Gadsden, who passed away on June 29, 2018. Pastor Tommy Ferguson and Rev. Gary Williams will officiate. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of services.
He was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and served 14 years in the Army Reserve. He was retired from Bowman Transportation after 24 years of being a Diesel Mechanic, he also loved farming.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Ruth St. John, sisters; Evelyn, Elizabeth, Martha, and Nancy, brothers; Billy, Otis, and Jimmy.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Mary Ann St. John; sister; Becky (J.P.) Sherman; sister-in-law; Sharon St. John; chosen daughter: Megan Shiver; grandchildren: Jackson, Jazlyn, and Kolby; brothers and sisters-in-law: Charles (Annette) Hinkle, Jerry (Lyndia) Hinkle, Sylvia (Wayne) Stewart and Naomi (Gary) Williams; host of nieces and nephews; special friends: Doug Bullington and Tony (Kim) Harcrow.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Special thanks to Amedysis Hospice especially Hannah, Dr. Head and Dr. Sanders.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Goodyear Heights Building fund.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 9 to 10:30 AM.
The journey we had was amazing, he was the love of my life and I will forever miss him.
