William "Bill" J. Patterson Jr.

September 24, 1943 ~ December 1, 2018 (age 75)

 

 

Funeral services for William “Bill” J. Patterson Jr., 75, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on December 1, 2018 will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Hokes Bluff 1st United Methodist Church. Pastors Eddie Gooch and Steve Baccus will officiate, with speakers Jimmy and Alex Patterson. Steve Barker will give the Eulogy. Burial will follow at Young’s Chapel Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of the services.

 

Bill was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William James Patterson of Young’s Chapel.  He was a 1961 graduate of Hokes Bluff High School and a 1965 graduate of Auburn University.  Bill retired from Alabama Power after 33 years of service, and was a member of 1st United Methodist Church of Hokes Bluff.  He was a member of the board of directors of Alabama Farmers Federation.  He loved growing day lilies and training his bird dogs.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Agatha Fallon, Elizabeth Bannister, Maurice Williams and Dorothy Martin.

 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Lewis Patterson, children; Jimmy (Melanie) Patterson, and Julie (Phillip) Kirsch, grandchildren; Jarron Patterson, Alexandra Patterson, Harrison Cummings, Maggie Meeker and Melanie Meeker, brother; Larry (Diane) Patterson, sister; Ressie Faye Patterson and sister-in-law; Betty Lewis, nieces and nephews; Ralph (Jean) Fallon, James (Jana) Fallon, John (Carolyn) Fallon, Tim Bannister, Spencer (Tina) Williams, Stephanie (Tony) Broome, Jane (Scott) Barron, Lynn (Chris) Holcomb, Beverly (Stephen) Bankston, Joe Patterson, Karen (Mason) Cothran, Kelly New Burns, Stephen (Stephanie) New, 18 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great great nieces and nephews.

 

Pallbearers will be Tommy Green, John Walker, Mike Beck, Leon Cooper, Joe Patterson, and Jarron Patterson.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Lawton Morris, David Hammond, Spencer Williams, Ralph Fallon and Sherrill Morris.

 

Special thanks to David Hammond, the Piedmont Rescue Squad and Ball Play #1 Vol. Fire Department.

 

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday night at the funeral home.

The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
