Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2018 at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for Shirley Davenport, who passed away on February 27, 2018. Bro. Allen Hudson will officiate, Eulogy by Dillon Boatwright. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of the services.
Shirley was born on May 15, 1939 to loving parents Bill and Verna Norris. She attended Altoona High School where she was a cheerleader. She graduated from Cosmetology School and was a hair dresser for many years. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Altoona at the age of 12.
Shirley loved her family and loved to be around them. She loved to play cards and drink coffee. She loved to watch Wheel of Fortune and Alabama football games. Shirley was truly a great loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Bill and Verna Norris, husband; W. T. Davenport, grandson; Brian Pitts, sisters; Lovie Baker and Pauline Harrelson, brothers; Billy, Leon, Garland, Dean, Bobby and Kyle Norris.
She is survived by her children; Greg (Phillena) Davenport, Sharon Davenport Pitts, chosen daughter; Beth (Jim) Lee, grandchildren; Blake Boatwright, Evan (Janice) Davenport, Kurt Chandler and Troy (Sierra) Davenport, great grandchildren; Dillon, Taylor, Grant, and Jake Boatwright, Jenna Roberts, Brooke and Kayla Kean, Laci, and Winter Davenport and Zailyn Chandler, great great grandchild; Ryland Taylor and sister; Brenda (Roger) Fulenwinder.
Pallbearers will be grandsons; Blake Boatwright, Evan Davenport, Troy Davenport, Dillon Boatwright, Taylor Boatwright, and Don Hester.
Honorary pallbearers will be Grant and Jake Boatwright.
Special thanks to Dr. Sanchetti, Gadsden Regional ER Dr. McBeth, and Staff, SICU nurses and staff, Absolute Respiratory Randy and Sherry Cline.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to time of service Friday at the funeral home.
