Ms. Remona Kay Sewell, 58, lived her life with grace and peace and joined her Heavenly Father in the same way on Tuesday, September 4, 2018.
Kay was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend to all. She was a sweet, humble spirit who was loved by everyone. A devoted member of Cross Creek Community Church and a part of numerous church families through her musical contributions, she was dedicated to serving all Mankind. She loved spending time with her family and friends, always with a sweet smile and a kind word for everyone she met.
Kay was a graduate of Hokes Bluff High School Class of ’78. She also graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, a Bachelor of Social Work, and earned her Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling in ’98. After years of service in education and counseling, she retired as project supervisor and principal from Duke Adult Training School of Calhoun-Cleburne Mental Health Board in 2015.
She is preceded in death by her father Harold Wayne Sewell and grandparents Calvin and Ruth Sewell and James and Avis Sewell. She is survived by her mother Joyce Sewell, sisters Kim (Jeff) Dilg, Kathryn (Matthew) Johnson, nephew Luke Johnson, niece Leah (Andrew) Cookston. Chosen nephew Cody Matthews. Chosen daughter “Little Kim” (Ronnie) Johnson, chosen grandchildren Caden, Carter, Caleb Johnson.
Junior pallbearers will be Caden, Carter, and Caleb Johnson. Pallbearers: Matthew Johnson, Jeff Dilg, Andrew Cookston, Ronnie Johnson, Cody Matthews, Mitch Sewell, Kenny Smith, Sterling Fiering. Honorary pallbearers: Ronnie League, Wayne Gibbs, Scott Crosson, George Moare, Dr. Boyce Callahan, Jeff Nore.

Glencoe Hokes Bluff Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. Visitation will be Thursday, September 6 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be Friday, September 7 at 1 PM. Chris Walker and Bert Oelschig officiating. Private burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery.
