Michael Shade “Mike” Stallings
Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday, August 2, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Southside for Michael Shade “Mike” Stallings, 73, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on July 30, 2018. Dr. Scott Hassell will officiate. Burial will follow at Hokes Bluff Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Mr. Stallings was a member of First Baptist Church of Southside. He was retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Gadsden, AL. He was a 1963 graduate of Emma Sansom High School. He served proudly in the United States Navy. Mr. Stallings coached Little League baseball for many years and was loved by so many. His grandchildren were the light of his world and they all adored their “Paw Paw”. He loved eating with his beloved wife and friends at Pruett’s BBQ.
Mr. Stallings was preceded in death by his granddaughter Breana Alyce Stallings, his parents Louie & Mable Stallings, and brother George Wyatt.
Mr. Stallings is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia “Patty” Hassell Stallings, sons Greg Stallings, Scott Stallings, and Patrick Stallings (Tammy), daughter Melissa Stallings Dauser (John), grandchildren Ashton McCord (Grant Griffin), Tyler McCord (Chasity), Lucinda Dauser, Kathryn Dauser, Brooke Morgan (Zack), Logan Green, Destiny Waldron, special niece Mallory Clemons, 3 great-grandchildren, Easton, Griffin, and Kylie Morgan, sisters Pat Brasher (Ray), Mary Virginia Embrey, Joanie Massingill, brother Johnny Welch; brothers-in-law Bruce Hassell (Calva) and Richard Hassell (Cindi), sister-in-law Mary Clemons, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Sandlin, “Bear” Bryant, Bobby McKee, Ricky Smith, Sr., Larry Wood, Roger Kimbril, Rick Kemp, and Ray Moore.
Special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Gadsden Regional Hospital’s ER and Critical Care Unit.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm.
