Margie Ann Wetzel
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Glencoe Hokes Bluff Chapel for Margie Ann Wetzel age, 82, of Hokes Bluff, who passed away on June 30, 2018. Reverend David Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Liberty Methodist Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of services.
Margie Ann resided in East Gadsden as a child and teenager attending and graduating from Gadsden High School. She married her sweet heart at the age of 20 and they established their residence in East Gadsden. Along with her husband, they raised three children: Becky Jimmie, and Jennifer.
Margie, as she was known within the legal community soon began her career as a legal secretary. Her passion and commitment to children and their families led her to work with the Etowah County District Attorney’s office as a Victim Service Advocate. This work eventually led to the founding of the original child advocacy center which is now known as the James M. Barrie Center for Children. During this time Margie also served as the President of the Etowah County Legal Secretary Association as well as serving as the President of the Altrusa Club of Greater Gadsden.
Margie Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Grover and Edna Prickett, her husband of 48 years, Jimmie Ray Wetzel, Sr., and her daughter Rebecca Wetzel Fountain.
She is survived by her son, Jimmie (Betty) Wetzel Jr., youngest daughter, Jennifer (Marc) Hill: five grandchildren, Will Fountain, Melissa Fountain Congo, Jonathan (Sydney) Wetzel, Brooke (Michael) Floyd and Ray (Bethany) Wetzel: seven great grandchildren, Joshua & Eli Floyd; Jackson & Addison Congo; Julien, Holland & Shiloh Wetzel, sister: Jeanne Durbin.
Pallbearers will be: Marc Hill, Michael Floyd, Will Fountain, Ray Wetzel, Jonathan Wetzel, and Joshua Floyd.

Flowers may be sent to Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the James M. Barrie Center for Children or The Gadsden Museum of Art.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1 to 3 PM.
