R. E. "Bobby" Stanley

September 16, 1933 ~ January 28, 2018 (age 84)

 

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Wednesday January 31, 2018, at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel for R. E. “Bobby” Stanley, 84, of Gadsden.  Mr. Stanley passed away on January 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Burial will follow at Marshall Memorial Gardens, Albertville, AL.   Rev. Anthony Gomez will officiate.  Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge.

 

Mr. Stanley served in the US Navy aboard the USS Piedmont in the Pacific Theatre.  He returned to Goodyear after service ended and retired after 43 years of service.  Mr. Stanley was very involved with youth sports through the years supporting his children and grandchildren.  He was the first president of Gadsden High School Parents Athletic Club. He served as an officer for many years in American League Little League and Litchfield High School Parents Athletic Club.  He was a 32nd degree Mason through the Glencoe chapter.  He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church for over 40 years.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; Paul and Sallie Stanley and sister; Billie Stanley Burgett.

 

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 65+ years; Mary Burgett Stanley, two sons; Lyle (Karen) Stanley, Alabaster and Tommy (Tracey) Stanley, Glencoe, one daughter; Marisa (Steve) Wofford, Huntsville. He also leaves two granddaughters; Kaci (Greg) Logan and Lexie Stanley, three grandsons; Tyler Stanley, Sam Wofford and Adam Wofford and two great granddaughters; Kolee Marie Logan and Rilynn Kate Logan, He also leaves  a brother; Max Stanley, sister; Carolyn Stanley Brown and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, especially Luke Small, Loretta Richardson and Carmen Wagnon.

 

The family will receive friends from 1 PM to time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
