Funeral services will be 4PM Monday May 22, 2017 at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home for Mirtis Imogene Watts Christian, affection ally known as “Sissy” to all maternal family & friends, 75, of Attalla who passed away on May 19, 2017. Bro. Jimmy Bailey & Chris Gallagher will officiate. Burial will be at Noble Hill Cemetery.  Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of services.

Mrs. Christian attended Emma Sansom High School, she retired with 30+ years of service as the Dairy manager at Winn-Dixie. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning vegetables, cooking Sunday dinner for her family. She loved all types of music, her favorite singer was Elvis and she loved country music, she was an Alabama football fan, and an Atlanta Braves fan, her favorite sports star was Joah Christian (her grandson). Before the last few setbacks health related she developed a love of sitting beneath the stars at night with a bonfire going, sharing songs/singing with her granddaughter, Jennifer, while listening to Tom Treganowan play the guitar.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years and 10 months: E. Kenneth Christian, son: Kenneth L. Christian, parents: William & Letha Watts, 4 brothers & 3 sisters.

She is survived by Phillip (Michele Mason) Christian, Albertville, Priscilla (Jermaine Harris) Christian, Gadsden, Joel (Melanie) Christian, Attalla, grandchildren: David Christian, Jennifer (Tom Treganowan) Kendrick, Stephanie & Eli Zurita, Raylee & Joah Christian, sisters: Judy Fant, Attalla, Mary Sarratt (Paul Patton), Gadsden, Linda Watts, Tuscaloosa, brother: Reese (Deb) Watts, Attalla, longtime friend/sister: Kathryne Lucille Young, a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be David Christian, Bryant Clonts, Josh Nash, Joe Brown, Murrell Christian, and Jeff Wooten.

Honorary pallbearers will be Reese Watts, Gerald, Donnie, & Boyce Christian.

Special thanks to her sisters: Mary & Judy for being there throughout this journey, staying by her side, providing all her care, & many other times throughout her setbacks. Betty Woods & April Ozbilgin (niece) for all their help with bedside care, they devoted time and helped so our mother could receive the best care & spend her remaining days at home. Deborah Lorenz (niece), for all the moral support to the woman caring for her.  Jeff & Pat Wooten, very dear friends, for their endless help no matter what was needed. Kim Watts thanks for all your help, too.

Additional thanks to Dr. Debora Reiland and staff, nurse Robin Bolin from Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for providing great care to our mother. Aunts Mary & Judy through this journey, Jennifer Kendrick (granddaughter) for providing care, support, & love so Mama was able to live in her home for several months prior to this last decline. Raylee Christian (granddaughter) for tenderly holding and singing to Meme while at her bedside on her first night home, sharing and engaging in special conversation that only Meme’s and granddaughters have. She was a wonderful mother, Meme, sister, and friend.

Visitation will be Sunday May 21, 2017 4-6 PM at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home.
