Kenneth Ray DayAugust 4, 1946 ~ September 25, 2017 (age 71)
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Welcome Baptist Church for Kenneth Ray Day, 71, of Ball Play. Mr. Day passed away peacefully on September 25, 2017. Bro. Roger Butler and Bro. Jerry Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow at Young’s Chapel Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge of the services.
Mr. Day was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and especially loved mid winter revival services. He was known in the community as “Lawnmower man”. He loved Alabama game day parties with family. He was a retired member of the Alabama Army National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Curt and Fannie Day, sisters; Martha Duncan and Vera Ramey, and brothers; Edward and Michael Day.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Margaret Reeves Haney Day, children; Lisa (Terry) Manley, Sand Rock, Teresa (Kenneth) Pollard, Ball Play, Sheila (Chris) Jarrells, Frisco City, Al, Sam Hawk, Woodland CA, Franky Varsalona, Fl, Derrick (Tena) Haney, David (Ronda) Haney of Piedmont, and Ken Day II of Woodland, CA. , grandchildren; T.J., Tiffany, Tyler, Krystin, Brett, Trent, Eric, Shelby, Gracie, Bethany, Justin, Faith, Emma, Victoria, Isabella, Lily, Tiara, Gary, Ross, Briana, Virginia, Justin, and Andrew, great grandchildren; Everett, Karlee, Taygen, Karter, and Elysa, brothers; Benny Day and Clyde (Carolyn) Day of Gadsden, sister; Joyce Caver of Clarksville, TN,
Pallbearers will be grandsons; T. J. Manley, Tyler Manley, Trent Pollard, Brett Haney, Eric Pollard, Justin Jarrells, Ross Johnson, and Andrew Hanson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Bailey, nephews, and all military friends.
Special thanks to friends and family for all the food, visits, calls and prayers and to Comfort Care Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
