James Neil “Jim” Green

Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Christ Central Methodist Church for James Neil “Jim” Green, age 94, of Gadsden, who passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017. Revs. Sherri Reynolds and George Cobb will officiate. Burial will be 1 PM Monday at Crestwood Cemetery. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home & Cemetery is in charge.

Mr. Green was a native of Armuchee, Georgia. He served in WWII as a sergeant in the Army, Military Police in North Africa and the U.S.  He moved to Gadsden in 1946 where he met his wife. He retired from Allis Chalmers. His lifelong interests were hunting, fishing, trapping, and bee keeping. He was inducted into the Alabama Trappers Hall of Fame April 8, 2017. He was an active member of Christ Central Methodist Church, the Sierra Club, The Etowah Historical Society, and the Alabama Trappers Assoc. Mr. Green always said, ”I have the best neighbors in the Paden Community.”

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years: Alline Sutherlin Green.

He is survived by his children: James Philip Green and Martha Sue Green Abel and son-in-law: Greg Abel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Randall Green, Joe and Mike Hayes, Buck Humphries, Allen Woodall, Byron Rhodes, Micah Voytek, Lee Pentecost, John Freeman, Lyman Love Joy, Randy Odam, Eddie and Jeff Mosko, Chris White, and Mike Sievering & Al. Trappers Assoc.

Family will receive flowers or donations may be made to Manna, The Sierra Club, or charity of your choice.

Family will receive friends from 1 PM to 3 PM Sunday at the church.
