Funeral services for Clifton T. Harris, 77, of Glencoe formerly of Weaver, will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Chapel with Bro. Frank Samuels of College Heights Baptist Church officiating. Masonic rites will follow at the chapel. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria. Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home and Cemetery is in charge of the services.
Clifton T Harris passed away on May 14, 2017, after lengthy illnesses. He was an active member of College Heights Baptist Church in Glencoe. He was also an active member and Past Master of Glencoe Masonic Lodge. Cliff was also an active member of Elizabeth Spearman Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a distinguished member of the State organization, having served as Worthy Grand Patron in 1995-1996, the highest office for a man to hold.
Clifton graduated from Sylacauga High School in 1958 and received two Associate Degrees from Gadsden State College. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army. His career spanned 34 years at the Anniston Army Depot where he retired as a quality control supervisor. He was known by his associates as “Bubba.”
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; daughter, Wendy Harris Pappa; grandson, Ryan Pappa; mother, Velma Batey; father C. T. Harris; sister, Betty Sue Hay; and brother, Milton Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Tommy Harris; daughters, Rene Hamilton Harris (Ken), Janet Hamilton Carswell (Donnie), and Sharon Hamilton DeMontgomery; grandsons Cory Harris, Jeremy Hamilton, Dustin McClendon, and Micah DeMontgomery; great grandchildren, Braden Pappa, Wesley McClendon and Samaiyah Hamilton; sister Dean Williams (James); brother Rev. Terry Harris (Cheryl); and several nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers will be Dorman Robinson, Dennis Battles, Donnie Clayton, Durwood Johns, Gary Gay, and Bill Patterson.
Honorary pall bearers will be members of Glencoe Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star ad Durwood Johns’ Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to time of service Wednesday at the funeral Home.
